Travel: Canada Express Entry Program

Enat DigitalBiz @ Canada Express entry program
Canada Express Entry
Canada Express Entry Program is a selection system created by the Canadian government to manage how people with skilled work experience apply to immigrate to Canada. They choose skilled immigrants as permanent residents based on their ability to settle in Canada and take part in their economy. Express Entry is a completely electronic process involving the federal government, provincial governments, and Canadian employers.

HOW DOES IT work?
Express Entry is used to manage applications for permanent residence under these federal economic immigration programs:
  • The Federal Skilled Worker Class (formerly the Federal Skilled Worker Program)
  • The Federal Skilled Trades Class (formerly the Federal Skilled Trade Program)
  • The Canadian Experience Class.
Provinces and territories can also recruit candidates from the Express Entry system through their Provincial Nominee Programs to meet labour market needs.

The Express Entry system has two steps:
Step 1: Candidates will fill an online profile, it is a secure form that they will fill to provide information about their:
  • Skills
  • Work experience
  • Language ability
  • Education, and
  • Other detail for CIC to assess them.
You will be accepted into a pool of candidates where you could be selected only if you meet the criteria of one of the federal immigration programs listed above. If you are not eligible, you may strive to become eligible by improving your core human capital factors in the areas listed above.

Step 2: Candidate with the highest ranking in the pool will receive an invitation to apply (ITA) for permanent residence. Candidates will be ranked against others in the pool using a point-based system called the Comprehensive Ranking System (CRS). The point will be awarded using the information in their profile. The point will be awarded under the following components:
  •  Core human capital factors;
  • Accompanying spouse or common-law partner factors, if applicable
  • Skills and experience factors transferability factors; and
  • Factors relating to a provincial nomination or a qualifying offer of arranged employment.
An additional point can be awarded to the candidate that has:
  • A job offer from any registered company in Canada supported by a Labour Market Impact Assessment, or
  • A nomination by a province or territory
The additional points will make a candidate rank high enough to be invited to apply at the next eligible round of invitations. There are a total of 1,200 points available under the Comprehensive Ranking System.
If any candidate is invited to apply, the person will have 60 days to submit an online application for permanent residence. And it will take Citizenship and Immigration Canada (CIC) a minimum of six months to process your application. Candidates must ensure that they complete all necessary forms and submit all supporting documents within this time frame. On completion of the process, successful candidates and their dependents (spouse and children) will land in Canada as permanent residents.

Candidates in the Express Entry pool who do not receive an invitation to apply for permanent residence in Canada after 12 months may resubmit their profile re-enter the pool if they still meet the criteria of at least one of the economic immigration programs.
