Are you planning to work as a driver in Dubai? or do you want to relocate to Dubai as a resident and be able to use your valid driving license there, here are tips for you to go about it.


You may be eligible to transfer your existing driving license, without having to take a driving test or going to a driving school, if you have a valid driving license from some countries. You have to be a citizen of the country I will be listing below and you must be a current resident Visa holder in UAE.

The countries from which citizens can transfer their driving licenses are given below:

Note: Some countries listed above will require translations or consulate letters, they are:

Documents & Payment needed:
  • Passport for residents (Original &Copy)

  • 1 passport photo, eye test certificate & AED 360 for the transfer fee and opening a driving file. Also required is a no-objection letter from your sponsor.
Step to take:
  • Get an eye test done in any hospital, clinic or optician. Give them 2 passport-sized photos and mention that it is for a driving license.
  • Take the documents mentioned above to the Dubai Traffic Department Driving License section in Al Ghusais from 7:30am to 2:30pm on a working day.
  • Fill up the application form & submit all documentation to the officer in charge.
