Facebook Launches News Tab On Mobile App




Facebook launches news tab on mobile app
The giant Social Media Company Facebook announced it's rolling out Facebook News section tap on the mobile app today 25th October 19. The news tab in the mobile app is dedicated solely to news articles hoping that the section will combat the spread of fake news articles on the network and help mend a strained relationship with the publishing industry.

Some news organization Facebook is working with includes the New York Times, the Wall Street Journal, Washington Post, Los Angeles Times, Chicago Tribune and some digital-only brands such as Buzzfeed and Business Insider.

The company said it hired a team of journalists to help curate major national stories that will populate the Today's Stories section of the tab. The team will have full editorial independence and has published publicly available guidelines that the curator will abide by.

According to Facebook, For now, the News tab is just a test, it will initially be available to about 200,000 people in the country's largest cities including New Yourk, Los Angeles, Dallas, Philadelphia, Chicago, Houston, Boston Miami and Atlanta. The tab will not appear on desktop versions of the site, only the mobile app.
