Binance Bahrain secures a full Category 4 license as a crypto-asset service provider.

The leading cryptocurrency exchange platform Binance celebrates receiving a full Category 4 license as a crypto-asset service provider (CASP) from the Central Bank of Bahrain (CBB).

In the announcement, Binance Bahrain becomes the first crypto-asset service provider to hold a full category 4 license.


The category 4 license will allow Binance Bahrain to offer a wider range of crypto exchange services to users in Bahrain, helping Binance increase the freedom of money globally.

A Category 4 licensed entity can onboard retail clients through a retail clients regulatory license endorsement fee and compliance.

Richard Tent, Head of MENA at Binance said:
"The upgrade to a Category 4 license in the Kingdom of Bahrain is a landmark achievement for Binance and further signifies our commitment to being a compliance-first exchange."

This development sees the Middle East region Bahrain furthermore becoming a leading global hub for crypto in the area.

The Central Bank of Bahrain's (CBB) role is to implement Bahrain's monetary and foreign exchange rate policies, manage government reserves and debt issuance, and issue the national currency much like any other typical central bank.
